Overview

Nestled along Augusta Road in Greenville, South Carolina, Taqueria Simón LLC stands out as a vibrant taco destination that blends authentic Mexican street food flavors with an inviting, casual atmosphere. As a food reviewer for Menufyy, I find this taco restaurant an exemplary choice for both locals and visitors seeking genuine, affordable Mexican cuisine without the pretense of fine dining.

The heart of Taqueria Simón lies in its carefully curated menu, featuring highlights like the Quesabirria—two tacos filled with tender, slow-cooked brisket wrapped in a crispy, cheesy tortilla—alongside Carnitas Pulled Pork that bursts with savory notes, and Habanero Wings accompanied by a cooling ranch dip. These dishes showcase not just traditional flavors but a mastery in balancing spice and richness that appeals broadly, even for those wary of heat, as many of the spicy elements are served on the side.

The menu further offers an inviting variety of tortas and tacos crafted with authentic ingredients such as marinated pastor pork, chorizo, and tripa, all served on freshly made corn tortillas that carry the essence of Mexico to Greenville’s food scene. Particularly notable are the platillos like Pollo Asado and Camarones a la Diabla, which emphasize marinated grilled proteins paired with vibrant sides, elevating the meal beyond a simple taco meal into a full-flavored experience.

The eating area, while modest with folding chairs and tables under a metal awning, complements the welcoming and unpretentious vibe of the eatery. Customers appreciate the covered seating, making it a comfortable spot to enjoy their food year-round. It’s an environment that encourages casual gatherings, making it ideal for families, groups of friends, and taco enthusiasts looking for a down-to-earth setting that aligns with the authentic taste of the food.

Taqueria Simón adapts well to diverse palates, with many diners noting the food’s consistent quality and reasonable pricing. Taco Tuesdays, with their special pricing and variety, draw repeat customers who appreciate both value and taste. The restaurant’s approach to spice—offering side salsas that allow guests to tailor heat to their liking—demonstrates thoughtful attention to accessibility without compromising authenticity.

While some loyal patrons mention minor challenges such as language barriers or the simplicity of the dining area, these factors hardly diminish the overall experience. Instead, they emphasize the unfiltered and genuine character of this vibrant taco spot, which has earned devoted followers over the years.

In sum, Taqueria Simón LLC is a must-visit for anyone seeking traditional Mexican tacos and complimentary dishes served with genuine warmth and an inviting rustic charm. Its location in Greenville offers a convenient stop for those craving bold flavors and authentic street food culture in a simple yet satisfying setting.

Delicious tacos for $2 each. I had the chicken, brisket, and steak tacos. Good quality and excellent prices. There's also covered seating to sit down and enjoy your food. I'll be back :)

This is a Taco truck. The seating is folding tables and chairs under a metal awning, which is a perfect, casual atmosphere. We went on Taco Tuesday when they sell several varieties for $1 each. They were delicious and affordable.

There is a bit of a language barrier, but the food is amazing. Nothing is really spicy(capsaicin), and the spicy is in the little side sauces. I know the color RED is intimidating, but it is not spicy at all. There is cilantro.

I’ve been a regular at this stand for five years or so now. I find the prices quite reasonable and the food excellent. The salsa Verde is probably my favorite. Unfortunately, they will not sell that on its own. The eating area behind the truck could use some improvements.

Tasty tacos. Brisket tacos taste more like pork than beef. Steak tacos use ground beef, not steak. The agua frescas are great. Tacos on Tuesday’s are less expensive but smaller than usual. Don’t let the food truck vibe turn you away, this place is authentic and well worth the trip.
